Project Description :
Astral Abodes is an ongoing project located at Uchale in Murbad, Thane District, Maharashtra. A core idea of the project was to take advantage of the picturesque backdrop for the project - the Sahyadri Mountains, and capture a piece of sky and land. The project is on contoured site, and the proposal is molded according to the unruly slope, and creating vantage points to gaze at the scenery and the stars. The project consists of individual residential units and an amenity centre- a series of folies distributed on the plot, each running a program uniquely, while being flexible a restaurant, a swimming pool, a banquet hall. The soil from excavation for the site has been used as a building material- the project is designed keeping context in mind, and approaches a sustainable building method- rammed earth.
